SGV Industrier AB

Case study.

During my employment at this company, where I started of as a machiner, they came to look for in-house competence for computers, so I applied for the position, since I really hated what I was doing at the moment. I got the post and after a wile, they asked me if I wanted to remake their website since the old one was really out of date and really ugly :)

Challenge:
This was my first site I've ever made for a company, so the challenges was pretty much everything. OK, after spending 3 years studying virtual design in high school I knew the basics about html and photoshop, but that won' take you far. To position stuff with a

<pre></pre> tag is not the best way to solve things. So I had to learn what a div was, and how to work with it. So xhtml and css. But that was not all, I also had to create a cms for them so they could update their information and latest news using a php. Which I had never even looked at before and was like greek to me.

Solution:
Google and tutorials was really good friend of mine during this project. I had to learn xhtml and css, how to work with it and make it look somewhat professional. Learning how to style everything from divs to paragraph tags and links as well as images and borders. After many days on google and in front of photoshop, I managed to get a layout together that the company really liked and gave me clear to move on. I think it took me about two months to code everything and make it work just as it was supposed to. The hardest part was to get a working cms, that allowed them to upgrade many different text-areas with information, and also allowed them to use html code for breaks and links. After spending several hours talking to a friend who's pretty good at php, I managed to solve the problem and make it work, I even understood what I had done, when I was finished!

Team:
I worked alone on this site, so I will by all means take all credit for it. You can find it at sgv.se.
